Picture
As was the fashion & tendency at the time, I was born at the Dongrayald Private Hospital Lismore, on the 6th July 1945. I have been married to Rosemary for 42 years. We have 2 sons & 1 granddaughter. I was educated at Lismore public schools and enlisted in to the Australian Defence Force in February 1963. Deployed to Sth Vietnam 1966 as a combat medic [stretcher bearer] and was wounded in the battle of Long Tan which necessitated my repatriation back to Brisbane and the start of a new career pathway mutually within the Army Reserve and property & asset management in Local Government. I sustained my military compulsion until reaching the age of compulsory retirement in 1999, by then a Senior Training & development Officer holding the rank of substantive Major. {A total 36 ~ 5 years from beginning to end.} My current status could best described as that of a self –funded superannuated Ordained Deacon within the Roman Catholic Church appointed to St Carthage’s Cathedral, Lismore as Deacon assistant.
For my community service in the Richmond ~ Tweed region I have been an active a member & past president of the RSL & Vietnam Veterans association, Legacy, & Lismore Central Rotary. I spent 25 years as a member of Lismore SES. I hold a seat on the NSW State Defence Reserve Support Council.
On separation from defence & Local Government in 1999, I commenced tertiary studies in theology, at ACU Brisbane for the diaconate &  now hold a Bachelor of Theology and Two ~ Units in Clinical Pastoral Education.
Since my admission into Holy Orders {ordination} I have been appointed to supply ordained Liturgical Ministry as Deacon Assistant at the Cathedral. Chaplain & Pastoral Care support to St Vincent’s and LBH; Chaplaincy support to St Carthage’s Care Services & various aged care facilities and the ex-service community in general.  With affect of 8th February 2008 I have taken over the responsibility of Chaplain the NSW & St John’s Ambulance Service. [Pro bono publico] and the Rescue Helicopter Service For respite I am the diocesan director of the NGO, Caritas Australia which has taken me to East Timor and the Solomon Islands. I am also a Justice of Peace for New South Wales.
If I had a motto it would have to be service above self and or “Duty first"
